First practices for high school sports kicked off this week in the State of Kansas. The Hoxie Indian Volleyball team was one of those many teams this week having their first team practices.
The Indians are coming off a historic season that saw them make a run all the way to the sate title game where they would fall just short losing to Hillsboro 2-0 finishing with a record of 36-6.
Hoxie while losing 5 seniors and mainstays in the lineup brings back a lot of experience. The Indians return 2A All-State player Emily Bainter from last years team. Bainter finished the season leading the team in kills with 436 and digs with 351. Bainter also chipped in 42 blocks on the season and 64 aces. Besides Bainter Hoxie also returns All MCL League player Macy Wente. Wente finished her junior campaign leading the team in total blocks with 51 while also adding 232 kills, and 55 aces.

Hoxie will open the season on August 30th when they travel to Grainfield to take on Oberlin and Wheatland-Grinnell in a triangular with first serve set for 3:00 pm converge of the matches can be hear on 101.1 KFNF.
